Coursework completed at a non-regionally accredited institution is typically evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

In order to properly evaluate credits from a non-regionally accredited institution we require students provide supporting documentation in addition to the official transcript.  Students should contact the academic department that taught each course at the institution attended to obtain appropriate documentation.  Once collected, please forward all information to admissions@otc.edu .  Documentation will then be forwarded to the appropriate Department Head or Dean for evaluation, and the student will be notified of the results.  Please allow 2-3 weeks for the evaluation process.

To be considered, documentation should include:

  • Cover letter or email listing the desired degree program and a list of courses being requested for evaluation
  • Copy of the course syllabus from the semester the course was taken for each course the student wishes to have evaluated
  • Course description from the semester the course was taken
  • Official transcript

Once evaluated, the student will be notified of the results by the Transcript Evaluator at OTC.

Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE):
Transfer credit is automatically awarded for equivalent general education courses taken at institutions accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE).  Courses such as missions, theology, doctrine, homiletics and religious education courses are not accepted.  A limited number of Bible courses, (e.g., Old Testament, New Testament, World Religions) that are significantly similar to a course at OTC may be accepted.  Education courses transfer only as general electives.  Other regular academic courses will be evaluated following the process listed above.
