Help your graduating seniors complete their OTC admissions steps! Sign up for a group STAR seminar and we’ll get your students ready to register for their first semester!
What is a Prep session?
Prep sessions will bring members from OTC’s Admissions Team to your students. During the session, students will be given an introduction to OTC and will receive assistance with the application, guided self-placement, career exploration resources, and navigating the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Students will then be prepared to attend the STAR seminar!
What is the STAR seminar?
STAR is OTC’s Student Advising and Registration seminar. In this classroom-style seminar, students learn:
- What programs of study OTC offers
- What classes are needed for their program and the order to take them
- How to plan and register for classes
- How to set-up a payment plan and use financial aid
Is the STAR seminar required?
OTC requires all new students to attend a STAR seminar before registering for their first semester. OTC Campuses and Centers that do not offer the STAR seminar conduct individual advising before students are able to register for their first semester.
What is the benefit of requesting a group STAR seminar for my students?
Since OTC requires all new students to attend a STAR seminar before registering, you will be helping your students complete the admissions steps required to register. Registration for the Summer and Fall 2020 semesters begins April 21st, 2020.
Can I request a group STAR seminar at any OTC Campus or Center?
Not all OTC Campuses and Centers offer the STAR seminar. While the high school STAR program is primarily offered on the Springfield campus, there are opportunities to visit all locations. If you would like to make arrangements to visit another OTC Campus or Center, please contact the respective Campus or Center directly.
How do I request a group STAR seminar for my students?
Scheduling begins by signing up for an OTC Prep Session and then a STAR seminar. Please contact Kearsten Jones at firstname.lastname@example.org or 417-447-6953.
What will my students do if I cannot arrange a group STAR seminar?
We understand that not all schools will be able to bring their students to a group STAR seminar. In these cases, students are welcome to arrange a STAR seminar individually. Students can schedule their STAR seminar through MyOTC or by calling their preferred campus or center.
Do students who attend OTC's Career Center or Middle College need to attend a group STAR seminar?
OTC hosts specialized STAR seminars for students in the Career Center and Middle College programs. If you have a student in either of these programs, they will attend STAR with their Career Center or Middle College group.
Who can I contact with additional questions?
If you have questions about requesting a group STAR seminar on the Springfield Campus, please email email@example.com or call 417-447-6953. If you have questions about visiting another OTC Campus or Center, please contact the respective Campus or Center directly.
