ABOUT

The Student African American Brotherhood (SAAB) was founded in 1990 by Dr. Tyrone Bledsoe at Georgia Southwestern State University. It was created to address the retention issues faced by Black men in college. Over the past 30 years, SAAB has expanded to nearly 350 campuses in more than 40 states. SAAB also uses the name Brother 2 Brother to show its commitment to brotherhood, community, and inclusion.

SAAB is a peer mentoring group. We offer support and encouragement to those seeking self-improvement through education. In 2020, SAAB moved its headquarters from Toledo, OH to Springfield, MO.

Our goal is to remove educational barriers for local students through:

  • Leadership
  • Mentoring
  • Advocacy
  • Action
