STUDENT AFRICAN AMERICAN BROTHERHOOS (SAAB)

ABOUT

The Student African American Brother was founded in 1990 by Dr. Tyrone Bledsoe at Georgia Southwestern State University to address the growing college retention issues facing Black men on campus. Over the past 30 years the Student African American Brotherhood has grown to over nearly 350 college, university, and high school campuses in more than 40 states. SAAB also operates under the SAAB: Brother 2 Brother moniker to show its commitment to brotherhood, community, and inclusion. We are a peer mentoring group that provides a network of support and encouragement to individuals seeking to better themselves through attainment. In 2020 SAAB moved it headquarters from Toledo, OH to Springfield, MO to continue to remove educational barriers for local students through leadership, mentoring, advocacy, and action.
